Week 10: Choose an Author.

I might choose Tennessee Williams for my for my year long author project because I read one of his plays and I really liked it. I wouldn't mind reading more. Also I was reading about what some of his pieces are about and I know that while reading them I would never get bored. He has such an array of of different works that I wouldn't be reading the same thing over and over. He also incorrporated his life into his plays, and judging by the play that i read he his exactly the type of author i like. He doesn't make a simple piece of work, and I like when authors make their readers think. Think about what the story means and why he wrote it, I like when you have to read between the lines.

Response to Jenn S. (Week 9)

After reading Jenn's week 9 posting I really had to agree that Naturalism was a fantasic "ism". I also have to agree that people do indeed act like things in nature, and that it is really easy to compare the two. I also really liked how the stories compared people to nature, as we do tend to act alot alike. We also take alot of things just like "Calm before the storm" and describe people with them, i love the creativeness of this "ism".

Response to Leigh W. (Week 9)

After reading Leigh's week 9 post and reading about how she felt about the story "The Kiss" I was really happy that I wasn't the only one who laughed at the predicament the woman was put in. I too could actually see this happening to someone and it made the story so much better to read. The woman got what she deserved at the end as she had played both men, and got rejected by the one she was cheating with at the end. I liked the realistic-ness of this story.

Week 9: Choose an "ism"

I think that post-modernism would have to be my favorite. I read the story
"Midland" and it was by far my favorite than the rest. I really liked how the
the author did not really come out and write what the moral or even the point
of the story was. You had to figure that out on your own and I really enjoy
reading things like that. I think this is another reason I am a fan of post-modernism. The authors of this "ism" have a lot to say but they don't come right out and say it. They make the reader look between the lines and use their imagination. I think that using your thought process is key to liking and understanding a book, this is why I like post-modernism, the authors make you think, and that is really important.

I look forward to reading more authors of the post-modernism and am probably going to do my multi-genre study on one. I've read one play by post-modernism author Tennessee William and I really enjoyed reading it. Tennessee Willams work was very well written and itmade you think, after I read the Glass Menegerie, I decided I very much liked post-modernism and its authors.

Though I also really liked Modernism and just like post-modernism, I like the way the authors wrote and what like put into their stories and books, and how you can think the story or something in the story means one thing, but it means something totally different. Another favorite of mine was Realism. I liked how it wasn't all gooshy romantic and many of the stories dealt with cold harsh reality. I'm not big into the fantasy of romanticism but into the stories of reality because the stories are all "This is what happens in life, and you have to deal with that."

So in a way i can't really pick just one "ism" that i like, as i like many.
